As we gear up with the planning details of Mexico Missions 2011 at SunWest, you might want to get your fundraising started now so you're not running tight on the funds needed. Costs for the trip are still under consideration and so the amount needed to be raised cannot be confirmed at this time. If you find that you have all of your funds raised, consider coming out and providing assistance to others who might be struggling to fundraise.
Should you have any questions, concerns or fundraising ideas, please contact Diana Festejo at 403-813-8019. We have had many different ideas presented, let Diana know what you are interested in!
VERY IMPORTANT - when you receive a cheque from someone - they need to make it out to SunWest Christian Fellowship (nothing else will be accepted). In the memo area on the cheque they need to write Mexico 2011 (nothing else). Place the cheque into an envelope with YOUR name or whoever the donation is for. This will greatly assist those who are reconciling the donations. There are Government regulations we need to abide by and this is one of them. We thank you in advance for complying with this request!!
Listed below are numerous initiatives that can add some serious coin to your fundraising account!
Bottle Drives - Start asking your neighbors for their bottles. Get them to drop them off at your home or offer to pick them up. Be sure to show up at the Bottle Depot on Bannister Road on each of the dates by 9am to get signed in, assigned a route and given general information. Dress warm, in clothes that you don't mind getting dirty. A toque, gloves and warm shoes/boots, a snack and something to drink is nice to have! We need parents who are able and willing to drive! Each bottle drive will run until at least 1pm, unless the weather is an issue or the flow of donations is so great that we run a bit past that time.
The 2010-2011 bottle drive dates (on SATURDAYS) will be announced.
Potential Fundraisers - details are still to be confirmed:
- Bake sale
- Coco Brooks Pizza
- Skate-a-thon - You'll need to gather pledges.
- If parents know people who like to do house/product parties, you can ask if they could hold one in your home and have the owner of the business donate a portion of their proceeds (perhaps 20% of the funds generated that evening).
- Get out and shovel your neighbors drive ways.
- Do some baby-sitting
- Write a pre-Christmas letter to your parents, family members, friends, teachers, your employer and tell them all about the mission trip and how you hope it will impact you.
