Real Life . . . Right Now . . .
SunWest is not about doing church to be "cool" or different. There is nothing unusual or new about SunWest that hasn't been at the heart of Jesus' church for the past 2000 years. Simply put, we are into Jesus and His purposes. Just like the Christ-followers who have come before us, we want to see and live out, with creativity and authenticity, everything Jesus invited us to communicate to the world around us. We have described that mission in a simple vision statement which declares our intent,
"To Guide People into an Authentic Relationship with Jesus Christ."
One of the key words in this statement is "guide". Guides come alongside people who are trying to get somewhere. They help them get to their destination. Guides point out the pitfalls, dangers, opportunities and decision points. SunWest is all about guiding.
Another key word is "authentic". Our aim is to guide people into genuine relationships with Jesus and His people. God created us to live authentically, with depth and intimacy. It is our desire to be real.
Reaching out to our community with the Good News of "Jesus Christ" continues to be a core driver to the ministry of SunWest. Jesus declared His mission when He stood up in the temple and read from the book of Isaiah:
"The Spirit of the LORD is upon me,
For He has appointed me to preach Good News to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released,
that the blind will see,
that the downtrodden will be freed from their oppressors
and that the time of the LORD's favor has come."

Jesus is calling SunWest to bring freedom to the people of south Calgary so that they can experience the "LORD's favor" and know real life!!
